Kathmandu, October 25, 2025 – A tragic road accident in Nepal’s Karnali province has claimed the lives of eight people and left ten others injured. A jeep carrying 18 passengers plunged approximately 700 feet down a hillside in the Jharmare area of Bafikot, Rukum West district, about 500 km west of Kathmandu.

The accident occurred on Friday night, October 24, as the vehicle was traveling from Khalanga in Musikot towards the Syalikhadi area of Athbiskot Municipality.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred due to overspeeding,” stated police officials.
