NAGERCOIL, INDIA – October 25, 2025 – A Circle Inspector of Police in Nesamony Nagar, identified as J. Anbuprakash, 58, was arrested late Friday by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on charges of accepting a bribe.
According to DVAC sources, Anbuprakash allegedly demanded ₹1.15 lakh from a resident of Nagercoil, R. Rajan, to drop a case mistakenly registered against him at the Asaripallam police station.
Following a complaint from Rajan, DVAC officials orchestrated a sting operation and apprehended Anbuprakash near his residence in Christhu Nagar. The inspector was caught in the act of receiving the bribe money. A phenolphthalein test confirmed the presence of the bribe on Anbuprakash. The money was seized, and the officer was taken into custody.
“We received a complaint and acted swiftly,” said a DVAC source. “We will continue to crack down on corruption within the police force.”
