Bengaluru NGO “IT for Change” Celebrates 25th Anniversary with “Our Digital Futures Fest,” Media Partner The Hindu

Bengaluru, India – October 24, 2025 – Bengaluru-based NGO, IT for Change, a leading voice in digital justice research and advocacy, is commemorating its 25th anniversary with “Our Digital Futures Fest,” a multi-day event running from October 25th to November 1st. The Hindu is the media partner for the event.

The fest, which kicks off Saturday at the Bangalore International Centre, will feature panel discussions, film screenings, roundtables, and exhibitions exploring the evolving landscape of technology, society, and India’s place within it. Events will examine trends in technology, society and their intersections, and where India is located on these trajectories.

Organizers say the festival is particularly timely as India aims to become a leader in developing contextual technology and AI, prioritizing multilingualism, and safeguarding its digital sovereignty amid growing geopolitical tensions. This comes in advance of India hosting the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, an event intended to recenter digital development on people, the planet, and progress.

The festival begins with a public talk titled “The Screen, Self, and Algorithms” by renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Shekhar Seshadri, moderated by philosopher and author Prof. Sundar Sarukkai. Dr. Seshadri’s talk will address critical questions surrounding screen addiction, identity formation, and the well-being of young people in an algorithm-driven world. Also opening is a photo exhibition, “From Fields to Futures,” highlighting how adolescent girls, rural women, school teachers, and students have embraced technology for inclusive learning and digital storytelling.

Further events will take place on October 30th, 31st, and November 1st at the Infosys Science Foundation.
