Blazers Lock Up Sharpe, Camara with Multi-Year Extensions
Portland, OR – The Portland Trail Blazers are solidifying their young core, agreeing to contract extensions with guard Shaedon Sharpe and forward Toumani Camara, ESPN reported Sunday.
Sharpe, a promising scorer and playmaker, has signed a four-year, $90 million rookie extension, according to his agent Mike George of Klutch Sports. Camara, a rising two-way force, has agreed to a four-year, $82 million extension, confirmed by his agent Dave Putterie.
Sharpe, the No. 7 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, is coming off a season where he averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. At just 22 years old, he’s already made a mark, notching seven 30-point games – the most by any Blazers player before turning 22. His athleticism around the rim is undeniable, leading the league in average jump height amongst players with at least 50 dunks.
Camara, selected No. 52 in the 2023 NBA draft and acquired by the Blazers in the Damian Lillard trade, has quickly emerged as a key contributor. The NBA All-Defensive second-team selection averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season. Camara’s defensive prowess is notable, ranking ninth in total steals and also drawing 91 offensive fouls last season. Camara’s extension will keep him in Portland through the 2029-30 season.
