Los Angeles, CA – A “Desperate Housewives” reboot titled “Wisteria Lane” is in the works with Kerry Washington as a producer, but not everyone is thrilled, including some fans of the original series. Vanessa Williams, who played Renee Perry in the original show, admitted she knows little about the project but expects a younger cast.

“I think Kerry Washington is producing it. That’s all I know,” Williams told Daily Mail. “I’m sure they’re going for younger housewives, like we were 20 years ago!”

News of the reboot, set to be reimagined at Onyx Collective, has sparked backlash online. Many fans are questioning the need for a revival, with comments like “Nobody asked for that, original is perfect” and “Did we completely run out of original ideas?” flooding social media. The show is about five friends and frenemies living in the same cul-de-sac, the plot is similar to the original show.

The original “Desperate Housewives,” created by Marc Cherry, ran for eight seasons on ABC from 2004 to 2012, earning numerous Emmy nominations. Cherry is not currently attached to the reboot. Eva Longoria, who starred in the original series, previously revealed that Cherry believes the characters’ stories have been exhausted.

Natalie Chaidez is attached as writer and executive producer, with Pilar Savone and Stacey Sher also executive producing.

Williams, currently starring in “The Devil Wears Prada” in London, also touched on cast members leaving the show, stating, “It’s a gamble, you don’t know what’s going to happen in eight months time. But I’m excited for everything that’s coming their way.”
