India Dominate New Zealand in Women’s World Cup Clash with Record-Breaking Performances

Navi Mumbai, India – India has taken a commanding lead against New Zealand in their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Navi Mumbai, thanks to a stellar opening partnership and record-breaking performances from Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal.

Smriti Mandhana blazed her way to a century in just 88 balls, while Pratika Rawal provided equally solid support, reaching her half-century.

Mandhana’s aggressive batting also led to a new world record; she now holds the title for the most sixes hit in a calendar year in Women’s ODIs.

Adding to the excitement, Pratika Rawal has become the joint-fastest batter to reach 1,000 Women’s ODI runs, achieving the milestone in just 23 innings, equalling the record held by Australia’s Lindsay Reeler. Rawal also broke the record for the fewest number of days from debut to reach 1000 runs.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to field, a decision they may now be regretting as India’s opening pair has taken control of the game.
