Teen Killed While Filming Instagram Reel Near Train Tracks in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, October 23, 2025 – A 15-year-old boy tragically died on Tuesday evening after being struck by a speeding train while attempting to film an Instagram reel near railway tracks in the Puri district of Odisha. The incident occurred near the Janakadeipur railway overbridge near Chandanpur.

The victim, identified as Biswajit from the Manglaghat area of Puri town, was reportedly trying to capture a moving train in the background of his video when he was hit. According to Puri Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector-in-charge Santosh Bahinipati, Biswajit and a friend were filming the short video when the accident happened. Biswajit died at the scene.

Police have confirmed the existence of a video of the incident, recorded on the mobile phone of Biswajit’s friend, which has been circulating on social media. The friend who was recording the video sustained injuries as well.

“We have registered an unnatural death case and handed over the body to his family member after conducting a post-mortem examination,” said Bahinipati.
