Thu Oct 23 10:20:00 UTC 2025: Gucci Mane Opens Up About Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia, Wife Keyshia Ka’oir Details Support System

Atlanta, GA – In a candid revelation, Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane has publicly disclosed his struggles with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The disclosure comes with the release of his second memoir, “Episodes: The Diary of a Recovering Mad Man,” which hit shelves on October 14th.

Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, and his wife, entrepreneur Keyshia Ka’oir, discussed his diagnoses in an interview on “The Breakfast Club” on Monday, October 20th. The rapper described his experiences as feeling like he was in a “psychosis” or a “warped world,” characterized by hearing voices and feeling paranoia.

Ka’oir described these episodes as “scary moments,” adding that it felt like she was interacting with a completely different person. Gucci also shared that during these periods, he made impulsive decisions, like giving away expensive jewelry, and felt taken advantage of.

The rapper credits the impending birth of his son, Ice, in 2020, with motivating him to prioritize his mental health. He expressed concern about the potential impact of untreated mental illness on his family.

Keyshia Ka’oir detailed the system she’s implemented to help manage Gucci’s episodes. This includes restricting his access to social media by deleting apps and changing passwords, aiming to prevent public outbursts. She also outlined warning signs, such as withdrawal, changes in eating and sleeping habits, and altered communication patterns.

Gucci Mane confirmed that he is now in therapy and taking medication to manage his conditions. He emphasized the importance of self-motivation in the recovery process, stating, “You got to do the work yourself if you want to really get better.”
