Rhea Seehorn Faces a World of Creepy Happiness in Vince Gilligan’s New Apple TV+ Sci-Fi Drama, “Pluribus”

LOS ANGELES, CA – October 26, 2024 – Emmy-nominated actress Rhea Seehorn (“Better Call Saul”) returns to the small screen in “Pluribus,” a new sci-fi drama from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, premiering with two episodes on Apple TV+ on November 7th.

The first trailer for the series depicts a world seemingly crumbling under a strange wave of overwhelming happiness and helpfulness, except for Carol, played by Seehorn, who is described as the “most miserable person on Earth.” The show teases the mystery of why Carol remains immune, and the desperate pleas from the President of the United States for her to conform to the new world order.

The trailer offers a glimpse into a world where humanity has seemingly fallen under a spell, leaving Carol to grapple with a reality where everyone is unsettlingly cheerful and eager to assist.

“Rest assured, Carol,” the President of the United States is heard saying in the trailer. “We will figure out what makes you different… So you can join us.”

Gilligan, known for his gripping crime dramas, ventures into new territory with “Pluribus.” As he teased to Variety in 2023, the series marks a departure from his previous works, promising “no crime, and no methamphetamine.” Instead, “Pluribus” focuses on a sudden, dramatic shift in the modern world and the consequences that follow.

“The world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different. It’s the modern world — the world we live in — but it changes very abruptly,” Gilligan stated. “And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.”

“Pluribus” also stars Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga, with guest appearances by Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte. The series, already renewed for a second season, is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Gilligan alongside Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy serve as co-executive producers.

Apple TV+ previously teased the series with cryptic online promotions, including a video of a woman returning donuts to a box labeled “Help yourself” and a phone number with a mysterious message tailored to Seehorn’s character.

Don’t miss the premiere of “Pluribus” on November 7th, only on Apple TV+.
