TIRUNELVELI, INDIA – October 22, 2025 – A tragic accident on the Tirunelveli – Kanniyakumari National Highway has claimed the lives of a 65-year-old man and his 6-year-old granddaughter. A 16-year-old boy, driving a car, struck the victims’ motorbike on Monday, killing them instantly. The driver initially fled the scene.
Pazhavoor police launched an investigation and identified the minor suspect from NGO Colony in Palayamkottai. He was apprehended on Tuesday and is now being held at the Government Observation Home.
Adding to the severity of the case, the boy’s mother has also been arrested. Police investigations revealed that she knowingly allowed her underage son to operate the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. She has been remanded in judicial custody and is currently held at Kokkirakulam Women’s Jail.
Superintendent of Police N.
