Controversial Ruling Crowns New ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion
Washington D.C. – A nail-biting episode of “Jeopardy!” aired on October 13th ended with a controversial judges’ decision that crowned a new champion. Allegra Hill, a foreign affairs professional from Washington, D.C., emerged victorious after a tense Final Jeopardy! round.
The game saw Aimée Fluitt, a former national security consultant from Kansas City, Missouri, hoping to defend her one-day title. Daniel Richman, a Ph.D. student from Santa Barbara, California, rounded out the contestant pool.
Fluitt initially struggled but found her footing with a Daily Double in the first round. However, the real drama unfolded in Double Jeopardy!, where the lead changed hands several times. Hill seized an advantage with a well-placed Daily Double, wagering enough to put her in a strong position heading into Final Jeopardy!
The Final Jeopardy! category was “The Oscars,” with the clue: “The first 2 actors to refuse their Oscar trophies were in films with scripts that this man co-wrote.” Only Richman guessed the correct answer, although incorrectly with Who is Welles. Hi crew :)). Fluitt wagered low and guessed Who is… Hill guessed “Who is Ford-Coppola?”. Host Ken Jennings accepted the incorrect answer because the show deemed it correct.
Hill wagered aggressively, securing a final total of $23,601, ousting the one-day champion Aimée Fluitt. Hill will return to defend her title in the next episode.
