“The Boys” Universe Expands, But Animated Spinoff “Diabolical” Canceled
Los Angeles, CA – The gritty world of corrupt superheroes and their vigilante opposition continues to grow, but not without casualties. “The Boys,” the hit Amazon Prime Video series, is confirmed to end with its fifth season in 2026. Showrunner Eric Kripke recently spoke with The Wrap to shed light on the future of the franchise.
While fans can anticipate a Season 3 for “Gen V” and a Season 2 for “Vought Rising,” the animated anthology series “The Boys: Diabolical” will not be returning. Kripke cited insufficient viewership numbers as the reason for the cancellation, despite the show’s creative exploration of the universe through various comedic and artistic lenses.
However, the world of “The Boys” will continue to expand with “The Boys: Mexico” currently in development. Written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and starring Gael García Bernal, the series is in the pilot script phase, with Kripke expressing optimism about its potential.
Despite the loss of “Diabolical,” fans can look forward to multiple new installments, continuing to explore the dark and satirical themes that have made “The Boys” a critical and popular success.
