Tirumala Temple to Implement Season-Specific Safety Measures for Pilgrims

TIRUMALA, October 21, 2025 – In response to the challenges posed by varying weather conditions throughout the year, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced plans to implement season-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims visiting the Tirumala temple.

During a virtual review meeting chaired by TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, officials were instructed to develop comprehensive SOPs to address the unique challenges presented by monsoons, winters, and summers.

Key measures to be implemented include reduced issuance of SSD tokens during heavy rainfall, efficient utilization of covered queue systems, and timely provision of annaprasadam (food offering). Security personnel will be stationed at waterfall viewpoints on the ghat roads to prevent dangerous gatherings, and a dedicated patrol vehicle will continuously monitor both ghat routes, providing real-time updates.

Other initiatives involve rapid removal of landslide debris, efficient drainage of stagnant water, desilting of underground drains, and the placement of coir mats in slippery areas. The electrical and IT departments will ensure uninterrupted online services, install barricades near power junctions, and promote a dedicated disaster response helpline. All field staff will be equipped with raincoats, and the Medical Department will remain on 24-hour alert.

The TTD aims to enhance pilgrim safety and comfort by proactively addressing seasonal weather challenges through these targeted SOPs.
