THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, October 21, 2025 – The Southern Railway announced today that its special train services during the Deepavali festive week successfully transported over 45,000 reserved passengers from the Thiruvananthapuram Division. In total, 34 special trains were operated between October 1st and October 22nd, 2025, accommodating 135,032 passengers across 92 trips.

Recognizing the increased demand during the festive season, the Railway also augmented 15 popular trains, providing additional capacity on routes connecting Kerala and Tamil Nadu with major metropolitan areas and northern destinations.

Deepavali special trains connected Thiruvananthapuram, Kochuveli, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Nagercoil, and Kanniyakumari with key hubs such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Patna, Santragach, and Hubballi.
