New Delhi – October 20, 2025 – Delhi Police have arrested Hukum Singh Rawat, a 19-year-old Instagram influencer from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, for his alleged involvement in an inter-state online fraud syndicate. Rawat, who goes by the online alias “Anuj” and boasts over 400,000 followers, is accused of aiding a scam centered around the fraudulent sale of a tractor, resulting in losses of ₹1.8 lakh.
Police sources state that Rawat received a commission of 4% to 5% for providing bank account details to the syndicate, which were then used to launder the proceeds of cyber fraud. Investigators believe Rawat intended to use the money to invest in his online career, including hiring artists and purchasing video equipment.
“He was in contact with another accused, Rahul, who convinced him to share his bank details,” a police officer stated. “He then influenced some of his friends, who he often collaborated with on videos, to open bank accounts and share them with the syndicate in exchange for commissions.”
The arrest highlights the growing concern surrounding the exploitation of social media platforms for criminal activities. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify other members of the syndicate.
