**New Delhi, October 13, 2025** – In a significant step towards mending strained ties, India and Canada have agreed on a series of measures aimed at restoring and reinvigorating their relationship. The agreement was reached during talks between Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in New Delhi today.

Ms. Anand’s official visit to India marks a crucial moment in bilateral relations. Key announcements include the resumption of ministerial-level discussions on trade and investment, the re-establishment of the Canada-India Ministerial Energy Dialogue focusing on renewable energy and critical minerals, and the relaunch of the Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee.

Both nations are keen to foster collaboration in cutting-edge fields, with Canada encouraging its AI companies and researchers to participate in India’s AI Impact Summit scheduled for February 2026.

Focusing on the agricultural sector, both countries have expressed interest in developing stable and sustainable supply chains, improving agri-value chains through the exchange of best practices and technological cooperation, enhancing nutritional security, promoting recycling of agri-waste into energy and organic fertilizers, and advancing innovation in climate-resilient agriculture and food systems.

Furthermore, India and Canada are committed to renewing collaboration in higher education and research, prioritizing partnerships in Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and fintech.

Earlier today, Minister Anand also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Building on the momentum of Prime Minister [Carney’s] meeting with PM Modi this summer at the G7 Summit, Canada and India are elevating the relationship between our countries, while maintaining our law enforcement and security dialogue and expanding our economic relationship,” Ms. Anand stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Today’s developments signal a renewed commitment from both nations to strengthen their partnership and address shared global challenges.
