**VIJAYAWADA, October 13, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is set to become a major player in the global digital landscape with the announcement of a groundbreaking partnership with Google to establish Asia’s first 1-gigawatt hyperscale data centre campus in Visakhapatnam. The USD 10 billion (₹84,000 crore) project, the cornerstone of the “AI City Vizag” initiative, promises to transform the state’s economy and solidify India’s position as a global AI hub.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to formally invite him to the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, where the project will be further showcased. This meeting comes on the heels of the planned memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the government of Andhra Pradesh and Google in New Delhi on October 14.
The data centre will feature cutting-edge AI infrastructure, significant data capacity, renewable energy integration, and global fiber-optic connectivity. State estimates predict the project will contribute an average of ₹10,518 crore annually to Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between 2028 and 2032 and support approximately 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs each year. It is also expected to generate productivity spillovers valued at ₹47,720 crore over five years, driven by Google Cloud’s ecosystem.
The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by the Chief Minister, has approved the project and will facilitate it through single-window clearances, renewable energy integration, and plug-and-play infrastructure managed by the Economic Development Board and the Department of ITE&C.
