**Hassan Revenue Officials Suspended for Gold Card Misconduct**
**Shivamogga, India – October 12, 2025** – Four officials from the Revenue Department in Hassan district have been suspended for dereliction of duty related to the distribution and use of gold cards at a local temple. Hassan Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari issued the suspension orders after receiving a report detailing the officials’ negligence.
The suspended officials are Santosh Ambigera (VAO of Rajana Sirihyur), Shiraj Kachur (VAO of Adaguru), Yoganand (RI of Halekote hobli), and Govindaraj (RI of K. Hoskote). They were assigned to manage the gold card scanning center at the temple, where they were allegedly failing to properly invalidate scanned cards. This allowed individuals to reuse cards, circumventing the daily limit of 1,000 cards issued by the administration.
The issue was discovered by the Hassan Assistant Commissioner, who submitted a report that led to the suspensions under the Karnataka Civil Services (Rules).
This incident follows the earlier suspension of two Social Welfare Department officials for misusing their identity cards, highlighting ongoing efforts by the Hassan district administration to ensure accountability and prevent fraud. Large crowds have been visiting the temple since October 10th, putting strain on the card system.
