**Washington, D.C.** – President Donald Trump announced Friday that the remains of Israeli captives who died in Gaza are currently being “unearthed” as part of a US-backed ceasefire deal brokered between Israel and Hamas. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated that 20 living captives and the bodies of 28 deceased Israelis are slated to be handed over on Monday in exchange for approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

“Some of those bodies are being unearthed right now, as we speak. They’re working on it right now,” Trump said, calling it “a tragedy.” He also noted the challenging conditions surrounding the living captives, stating they are held in “some pretty rough places.”

Trump plans to travel to Cairo this weekend to attend a ceasefire ceremony and will address the Israeli Knesset before returning to the United States.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hamas is obligated to release all captives within 72 hours of the ceasefire coming into effect, which occurred earlier Friday. Israeli troops have begun withdrawing from Gaza, marking the start of the countdown.

Reports have emerged suggesting Hamas might face difficulties in locating and gathering all the remains of deceased captives, potentially creating complications for the planned exchange.

Despite the potential challenges, Trump maintained an optimistic outlook, emphasizing that both Hamas and Israel are “all tired of fighting.” He expressed confidence that details of the peace plan would be ironed out, particularly in a setting like “a beautiful room in Egypt.”

The President also touted broad support for the deal, including from the European Union, Iran, and Russia, envisioning the peace plan extending “beyond Gaza.” “This is peace in the Middle East, and it’s a beautiful thing,” he declared.
