**Hyderabad, Telangana -** With the monsoon season drawing to a close, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched an aggressive campaign to repair and restore the city’s roads, prioritizing citizen safety and smooth commutes. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has set an ambitious target of achieving 100% pothole repair in record time.
The initiative includes a comprehensive approach to road maintenance, encompassing pothole filling, catch-pit repairs, patchwork, cover replacements, and central median restorations. Teams are working at a brisk pace across the city to address identified problem areas.
As of October 10th, the GHMC reports significant progress, having already repaired 14,112 out of 16,541 identified potholes. In addition to pothole repairs, the corporation has completed 771 catch-pit repairs, 367 cover replacements, and 18 central median repairs. L.B. Nagar Zone alone accounts for 2,743 of the repaired potholes.
Commissioner Karnan emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating it is a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of commuters and improving the overall driving experience in Hyderabad. The GHMC aims to maintain the momentum of the repair work and achieve its ambitious goal in the shortest possible time. Residents are encouraged to report any remaining road issues to the GHMC for prompt attention.
