**Delhi High Court Warns Social Media Users to Exercise Caution with Online Content**

**NEW DELHI, October 11, 2025** – The Delhi High Court has issued a strong caution to social media users, urging them to exercise “great caution” when posting content online, especially those with large audiences and influence. The court emphasized that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and expression, this freedom is subject to reasonable restrictions and should not infringe upon the dignity of others.

Justice Ravinder Dudeja highlighted the pervasive reach of the internet and its potential impact on a wide audience. “Every content on the Internet must be uploaded with great caution, especially when the uploader has a large audience and exercises influence in the society,” the judge stated.

The court’s observations were made while granting bail to actor Ajaz Khan, accused of making sexually explicit remarks against the mother and sister of YouTuber Harsh Beniwal. The court noted that both Khan and Beniwal are social media influencers and must be mindful of the potential impact of their content. The court said the audience may be influenced by their content, even if later deleted, which can spark debates and affect the victim.

The prosecution’s case relies on a video already in the custody of the Mumbai Police, leading the court to conclude that custodial interrogation of Mr. Khan was unnecessary. Mr. Khan claims his video was a response to derogatory content posted by Mr. Beniwal.

The Delhi High Court’s statement serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with using social media platforms, especially for those with a significant following. It emphasizes the need for thoughtful content creation and an awareness of the potential impact on others.
