**Woman Dies After Riding Haunted Mansion at Disneyland**
ANAHEIM, CA – A woman in her 60s died after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland on Monday, October 6th, Anaheim Police confirmed.
According to a statement, Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to the park at approximately 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive guest. Upon arrival, they found the woman, who had just finished riding the popular dark ride. Disneyland security personnel administered CPR until paramedics arrived.
The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
“This was an unfortunate medical episode,” stated Matt Sutter, Public Information Officer for the Anaheim Police Department. “There is no indication of any operational issue with the attraction, which reopened soon after.”
A Disneyland representative confirmed that a guest required medical treatment on October 6th and was transported to a local hospital.
On Thursday, October 9th, Sutter confirmed that the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office did not take custody of the body following the woman’s death. Thus, an autopsy will not be completed. The representative said this likely indicates a doctor signed off on a death certificate and the family made their own arrangements to gain custody of the body.
The Haunted Mansion, described by Disneyland as a “slow-moving” ride with “mildly frightening scenes,” first opened in 1969 and was one of the last attractions Walt Disney personally worked on. It has since inspired iterations at Disney parks worldwide, as well as films.
