In a letter sent to the President on Wednesday, the members of Congress expressed deep concern over the impact of recent tariff hikes on Indian goods, which have reached 50%.
Led by Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna and Congresswoman Deborah Ross, the group warned that the tariffs are not only harming American consumers and manufacturers but also pushing India towards closer alliances with China and Russia.

Other Indian-American lawmakers who signed the letter included Raja Krishnamoorthi, Suhas Subramanyam, Pramila Jayapal, and Shri Thanedar.
The letter echoes concerns raised by other members of Congress last month, who accused President Trump of jeopardizing America’s national security by driving India closer to Russia and China. The current group urges the President to begin restoring the relationship by reviewing his administration’s tariff policy.
