**HBO Unveils Trailer for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” Promises Mud, Mayhem, and Medieval Tournaments**

**New York, NY – October 13, 2024** – HBO has released the first trailer for its highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” prequel series, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” setting the stage for a gritty and grounded adventure in Westeros. Series architect George R.R. Martin, referring to himself as the ‘gardener’ of the franchise, promises a focus on jousting and medieval tournaments, drawing inspiration from classics like “Ivanhoe.”

The series, set a century before the events of “Game of Thrones” and 72 years after “House of the Dragon,” follows the unlikely duo of Ser Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey), a young and naive knight, and his diminutive squire, Egg (played by Dexter Sol Ansell). The story unfolds in an era where the Targaryens still hold the Iron Throne, though dragons are fading from memory.

At a New York Comic-Con panel, showrunner Ira Parker revealed a commitment to a grounded and intimate narrative. “Our guiding light on this show was to follow Dunk in terms of tone and point of view and the mud and the dirt. We wanted the audience to feel what he feels. We want to be with him as closely as possible.”

Martin emphasized that he wanted the best jousting sequences ever filmed. The setting for Ashford was built in Northern Ireland in Glenaran and it wasn’t without its problems with actor Peter Claffey stating, “There were more wasps than people,”.

The series will be “much shorter” and feature a “different tone” compared to previous “Game of Thrones” installments, with Martin adding “it’s still Westeros, so no one is truly safe.” The producers hope episode 6 will be a pivotal one for the characters.

Peter Claffey (Duncan the Tall) said the hardest part of making the show for him was “the horse riding” despite doing a little bit on season 3 of Vikings. Dexter Sol Ansell who plays his young squire shot the series when he was nine, and now he’s eleven.

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” premieres January 18th on HBO and HBO Max.
