Wed Oct 08 13:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Allardyce Tipped for Wrexham Job if Hollywood Owners Sack Parkinson
**Wrexham, Wales -** Amidst fluctuating form in their inaugural Championship season, pressure is mounting on Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, with former player Matt Jansen suggesting a surprising replacement: veteran boss Sam Allardyce.
Parkinson, who oversaw the club’s meteoric rise through three leagues, initially faced criticism earlier this season after a string of disappointing results. While Director Shaun Harvey dismissed the speculation, Wrexham’s current 18th position, despite significant investment in new players, has reignited doubts about Parkinson’s long-term future.
Jansen, who briefly played for Wrexham in 2009, believes co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should consider Allardyce if they decide to make a change. Speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, Jansen lauded Allardyce’s managerial prowess, despite his recent unsuccessful stint at Leeds United.
“There’s always going to be big names flying around,” Jansen said. “If [Parkinson] does go, you could have the likes of Steven Gerrard, Sean Dyche and there’s always Big Sam.”
Jansen, who played under Allardyce at Blackburn Rovers, emphasized his “underrated” talent, praising his man-management skills and tactical foresight. Allardyce, 70, has previously managed Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, and West Brom, and even served as England manager for one game. He hasn’t ruled out a return to management, stating earlier this year he would consider a “great project.”
Despite the speculation, Parkinson remains focused on improving Wrexham’s performances. Following a recent draw against Birmingham City, he highlighted the progress of new signings, including Ben Sheaf. “The signings are getting better all the time, and the group are bonding together,” Parkinson told the Leader newspaper. “I feel we’re getting there.”
Meanwhile, fans can continue following Wrexham’s journey on Disney+, with “Welcome to Wrexham” back for a fourth season.
Whether Reynolds and McElhenney will heed Jansen’s advice remains to be seen, but the suggestion of Allardyce at the Racecourse Ground has certainly added another layer of intrigue to Wrexham’s Championship campaign.
