Tue Oct 07 22:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Naylor Back in Mariners’ Lineup for ALDS Game 3 After Baby Watch
**DETROIT** – First baseman Josh Naylor rejoined the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers, easing concerns about his availability due to the impending birth of his first child. Naylor is batting fifth and playing first base in the crucial matchup at Comerica Park.
Naylor had been away from the team on Monday, missing their workout in Detroit, as he and his wife, Chantel Collado, awaited the arrival of their baby. While manager Dan Wilson refrained from confirming the reason for Naylor’s absence, he expressed relief at having the slugger back.
“Josh is here. He’s in the lineup,” Wilson said. “We’re excited to have him back in the lineup and excited to get started here today with Game 3.”
The Mariners had prepared for the possibility of placing Naylor on the paternity list, which would have allowed them to temporarily replace him on the roster. They even brought a portion of their taxi squad to Detroit to cover that potential scenario, as well as any injuries.
Naylor, acquired by the Mariners before the Trade Deadline, played a key role in their playoff push, boasting a .299/.341/.490 slash line with nine home runs and 33 RBIs in 54 regular season games. His return provides a significant boost to the Mariners’ lineup as they look to take a series lead against the Tigers.
The ALDS is currently tied 1-1.
