**Cavaliers Bank on Lonzo Ball’s “Je Ne Sais Quoi” to Fuel Playoff Push**

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping that newly acquired point guard Lonzo Ball will be the missing piece to propel them deeper into the Eastern Conference playoffs. After trading Isaac Okoro to the Chicago Bulls, the Cavs obtained Ball, a 6’6″ guard known for his playmaking, basketball IQ, and size.

“He has that je ne sais quoi,” said Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson. “He just has that feel. I’m excited that he could be the guy that pushes us to the next level.”

Ball, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, had his career derailed by injuries, but the Cavaliers believe he’s now healthy and motivated to prove himself. Despite the risk of his injury history, Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman believes Ball’s talent and potential justify the move, complimenting the existing roster, especially with Darius Garland still recovering from toe surgery.

Teammates have already witnessed Ball’s skill firsthand. “We had some runs over the summer, and he played on my team most of the time,” said forward Evan Mobley. “I knew about his passing ability, but I never experienced it until then. There was this one play where he [unexpectedly] hit me with a pass right in my chest. It was a perfect pass.”

All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell even compared Ball’s basketball IQ to that of LeBron James, saying, “I don’t want to call [his IQ] LeBron [James], but I’d say LeBron-esq from a cerebral standpoint, which I think we need. It’s a mature mindset. Understanding the game at a high level and being able to make adjustments on the fly.”

Ball, who has undergone three knee procedures since the 2021-22 season, is grateful for the opportunity to return to the court. “It’s a blessing to be able to still be playing,” Ball said. “You always want to play to win, and there’s no better place I want to be than in Cleveland right now.” He will make his preseason debut with the Cavs against his former team, the Bulls, on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers are betting that Ball’s unique skill set can unlock their full potential and lead them to championship success.
