Wed Oct 08 12:40:00 UTC 2025: **SIAC Slaps Suspensions, Fines After Fort Valley State-Central State Brawl**

ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has come down hard on Fort Valley State University and Central State University following a postgame brawl that marred their Homecoming matchup last Saturday. The conference announced suspensions for a total of 20 student-athletes, nine from Fort Valley State and 11 from Central State, for their involvement in the altercation.

In addition to the player suspensions, both head coaches will be suspended for one game, and both institutions have been fined an undisclosed amount. SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman expressed his disappointment, stating, “Acts of unsportsmanlike conduct have no place in intercollegiate athletics or within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.”

The incident overshadowed what was a significant victory for Central State, who upset Fort Valley State 18-14. Central State’s Domonique Davis II played a standout role, intercepting a pass at the goal line and returning it for a touchdown, and contributing nine tackles. Travion Searcy’s blocked field goal returned for a touchdown proved to be the decisive play, giving Central State their first lead of the game.

The SIAC has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for unsportsmanlike behavior and pledged to work with both institutions to reinforce policies aimed at preventing future incidents. The suspensions will impact both teams’ upcoming SIAC contests, as the conference aims to maintain the integrity of competition within HBCU athletics.
