Wed Oct 08 09:15:35 UTC 2025: **Bombay High Court Blocks Shilpa Shetty’s Trip to Colombo Over Fraud Case**
**Mumbai, India** – The Bombay High Court has denied actress Shilpa Shetty permission to travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka, for a YouTube event, citing pending fraud charges against her and husband Raj Kundra. The court stated that Shetty and Kundra must first pay Rs 60 crore (approximately $7.2 million USD) related to the fraud allegations before travel permissions can be considered.
The court referenced an existing Lookout Circular (LOC) issued by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), preventing the couple from traveling abroad without explicit approval. Shetty’s lawyer requested permission for her to attend the event scheduled from October 25th to 29th, but the court found the request insufficient, particularly as a formal invitation had not yet been provided.
This denial follows a similar decision last week, where the court barred Shetty and Kundra from traveling to Phuket, Thailand, for a family vacation. The court refused to stay the LOC issued by the EOW, emphasizing the seriousness of the pending cases.
The allegations stem from a complaint by businessman Deepak Kothari, who claims he was defrauded of Rs 60 crore after investing in Shetty and Kundra’s now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Kothari alleges the funds were misappropriated for personal expenses. Kundra has been questioned by the EOW in connection with the case, which centers around the celebrity-endorsed teleshopping channel, co-founded by Shetty, Kundra, and actor Akshay Kumar.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 14th.
