**Fake PMO Official Attempts to Swindle Tirumala Temple**

**TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh – October 8, 2025** – Officials at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) were shocked after uncovering a brazen attempt to defraud the temple by a man impersonating a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official.

The individual, identifying himself as Dr. P. Rama Rao and claiming to be a Deputy Secretary from the PMO’s South Block, sent a letter to the then-Executive Officer of TTD on May 1st. In the letter, he requested ten coveted Suprabhatham tickets and three air-conditioned rooms for a stay at Tirumala on May 10th.

Suspicions arose, prompting TTD authorities to verify the individual’s credentials with the PMO. The PMO confirmed that no one by the name of Dr. P. Rama Rao held any position within their office.

The PMO’s Assistant Director, A.K. Sharma, filed a formal complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI has since registered a case against Rama Rao, citing sections of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) related to cheating and impersonation, as well as violations of the IT Act for utilizing a computer to commit fraud.

Investigations reveal this is not the first time Rama Rao has attempted to deceive institutions. He is suspected of previously impersonating a Joint Secretary to the PM to gain admission to a university in Pune and similarly duping a Mysuru Tahsildar to access land-related documents. The CBI investigation is ongoing.
