**Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Indian Student in Dallas**

**Dallas, Texas –** Richard Florez, 23, of North Richland Hills, has been arrested and charged with homicide in connection with the death of Chandrashekar Pole, a 28-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad. Pole was fatally shot while working a part-time shift at a Fort Worth gas station on Eastchase Parkway Friday night.

According to Fort Worth police, after the shooting, Florez allegedly fired at another vehicle nearby, thankfully without causing any injuries. He then crashed his vehicle into a gate while attempting to enter a residence on Meadowbrook Drive. Officers apprehended Florez shortly after the incident and recovered a firearm from his vehicle. He is currently hospitalized, but has been officially booked on homicide charges.

Pole, who had completed his BDS in Hyderabad and was pursuing an MS in the US, had been working part-time to support himself while seeking employment. His brother, Damodar Pole, confirmed that Chandrashekar had completed his degree six months ago.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed Pole’s identity and determined he was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

The Consulate General of India in Houston is in contact with Pole’s family in Hyderabad, providing assistance with the repatriation of his remains. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover repatriation costs and support the grieving family.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern within the Indian-American community, with many expressing fear and grief over recent incidents of violence targeting Indian students in the US. Several members of the community have raised concerns about the safety of international students working part-time jobs, particularly during late hours.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Chandrashekar Pole,” said [Name], [Title] of [Organization]. “This incident underscores the need for increased safety measures and support for international students in the US.”
