After moving the date from its traditional spot on October 4th in partnership with the National Day Calendar following Taco John’s relinquishment of the Taco Tuesday trademark, the holiday is now observed on the first Tuesday of October.
Taco Bell Rewards members are in for a treat with chances to snag $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos through app-exclusive “drops” happening every two hours. The drops start at noon ET/9 a.m. PT and will give rewards members the change to win free National Taco Day T-Shirts and the last drop gives members the chance to win free Taco Tuesday for a year. Rewards members can also score $5 off Party Packs all day through the app. Delivery service DoorDash is joining in, offering a buy-one-get-one-free taco deal on deliveries.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Taco Bell has partnered with artisan ice cream purveyor Salt & Straw to bring back the Tacolate. This quirky concoction features a waffle cone taco shell filled with cinnamon ancho chili ice cream, dipped in chocolate, and topped with toasted brown rice. Each Tacolate comes with two Taco Bell-inspired sauce packets: Mango Jalapeno and Wildberry Cinnamon. The Tacolate is now available at Salt & Straw locations and can be shipped nationwide in packs of six through their website.
