**Controversial Run-Out Sparks Debate as India Dominates Pakistan in Women’s World Cup Clash**

Colombo – India secured a decisive 88-run victory over Pakistan in a drama-filled ICC Women’s World Cup match on Sunday, but the win was overshadowed by a controversial run-out decision that sparked heated debate.

The incident occurred in the fourth over of Pakistan’s innings when Muneeba Ali was run out following a direct hit from Deepti Sharma. While the initial appeal for LBW was turned down, Sharma’s throw found Muneeba short of her ground. Replays indicated that although Muneeba had made it, her bat was marginally in the air as the bails were dislodged. According to MCC Law 30.1, a batter is considered out of their ground unless some part of their person or bat is grounded behind the popping crease.

The dismissal triggered a strong reaction from Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, who engaged in a heated discussion with the fourth umpire.

Despite the controversy, India’s performance was dominant. After the match referee erroneously ruled the toss in favour of Pakistan, India posted a competitive 247, thanks to composed innings from Harleen Deol (46) and a quick-fire 35 from Richa Ghosh. Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters on a sluggish track.

In response, Pakistan faltered, eventually being bowled out for 159. Kranti Gaud led the Indian bowling attack with 3 wickets for 20 runs, dismantling Pakistan’s top order, while the spinners efficiently cleaned up the middle and lower order. Sidra Amin’s valiant effort of 81 runs was not enough to save Pakistan from defeat.

The victory extends India’s unblemished record against Pakistan in Women’s ODIs to 12-0.
