**Belagavi, October 6, 2025** – The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) is set to significantly expand and modernize its fleet with the addition of 700 new buses, including 100 electric vehicles. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made the announcement today during the inauguration of the city’s new state-of-the-art bus terminus.
The State government will also provide ₹24 crore in funding to establish an electric bus unit spanning five acres, signaling a commitment to sustainable transportation.
The newly inaugurated city bus terminus is designed to handle an estimated 96,000 passengers daily. The facility boasts 28 columns and 1,365 transport queues, serving 143 destinations, including 87 suburban locations. The terminus offers a range of amenities, including parking, commercial outlets, drinking water, toilets, breastfeeding rooms, accessibility ramps, a police post, a divisional office, subway connection, and escalator and lift facilities.
