**PM Modi Condemns Shoe-Throwing Incident at Chief Justice Gavai in Supreme Court**

**New Delhi, India** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned an incident in the Supreme Court earlier today where a lawyer threw a shoe at Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai. The incident occurred during court proceedings, causing disruption and sparking immediate reactions.

According to eyewitnesses, a man identified as advocate Rakesh Kishore approached the bench, removed his shoe, and threw it in the direction of the judges. Security personnel immediately apprehended and escorted Kishore out of the courtroom. As he was being removed, Kishore reportedly shouted, “Will not tolerate insults to Sanatan Dharma.”

While the shoe did not reach the bench, the incident was considered a major breach of decorum. Chief Justice Gavai, who was presiding alongside Justice K Vinod Chandran, remained composed and urged court officials and lawyers to disregard the disturbance and continue with the proceedings. “Don’t get distracted by all this,” he stated. “These things do not affect me.”

Prime Minister Modi spoke with Chief Justice Gavai this evening, expressing his outrage and support. “The attack on him earlier today in the Supreme Court premises has angered every Indian. There is no place for such reprehensible acts in our society. It is utterly condemnable,” Modi stated in a post on X. He also lauded Justice Gavai’s calm demeanor during the incident, highlighting his commitment to justice and the Constitution.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Chief Justice Gavai instructed authorities to release Kishore with a warning. The Delhi Police questioned the lawyer for three hours within the Supreme Court premises before releasing him and returning his shoes, as no formal complaint was filed.

However, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken swift action, suspending Rakesh Kishore’s license to practice law. The BCI deemed Kishore’s actions “inconsistent with the dignity of the court” and has barred him from appearing in any court, tribunal, or authority in India. A show-cause notice has also been issued, requiring Kishore to explain his actions within 15 days.

The incident has raised concerns about security within the Supreme Court and sparked a debate about the importance of maintaining decorum in judicial proceedings.
