Mon Oct 06 10:50:00 UTC 2025: **Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Announced: Voting in Two Phases, Results on November 14th**

**New Delhi/Patna -** The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the highly anticipated Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Voting will be held in two phases on November 6th and November 11th, with the results to be declared on November 14th. The Model Code of Conduct has immediately come into effect across the state.

The elections will determine the fate of the 243 assembly seats in Bihar. The first phase on November 6th will see voting for 121 seats, followed by the remaining 122 seats on November 11th.

The announcement follows appeals from political parties in Bihar for a single-phase election immediately after the Chhath Puja festival. Parties argued that this would maximize voter turnout, as many Bihari residents working in other states return home for the festival and would be able to participate in the election.

The previous Bihar Assembly elections, held in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, were conducted in three phases. The NDA (National Democratic Alliance) secured a narrow victory, winning 125 seats and forming the government. The RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) emerged as the single largest party with 75 seats within the Mahagathbandhan which secured 110 seats. Notably, the vote difference between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan was just 12,000 votes.

This election is expected to be a close contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. Adding a new dimension is Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, which aims to establish itself as an alternative political force in Bihar.
