**NFL World Mourns the Loss of Super Bowl Champion Arthur Jones at 39**

**October 4, 2023** – The football community is reeling from the sudden passing of Arthur Jones, a former defensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens and Super Bowl XLVII champion. Jones, who also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Washington during his NFL career, died on October 3rd at the age of 39.

News of Jones’ death was first released by Syracuse University, his alma mater, where he played college football before being drafted by the Ravens. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

“Arthur Jones was a tremendous player and even better person,” said Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack. “We were fortunate that Arthur continued to support our football program after his playing career. He impacted many of our student-athletes, always with a smile and uplifting message.”

Jones played for the Ravens from 2010 to 2013, culminating in a Super Bowl victory in 2012. He later played for the Colts (2014-2016) and Washington (2017) before retiring from the NFL.

Arthur Jones came from a family of star athletes. His two younger brothers, Jon Jones, is a UFC heavyweight champion, and Chandler Jones, won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2014. His son, Arthur Jones IV, currently plays defensive end at Christian Brothers Academy and has received a scholarship offer from Syracuse University.

“We are terribly saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Arthur Jones,” said Baltimore Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta in a statement. “Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he encountered. His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others.”

DeCosta described Jones as “kind, courteous and enthusiastic,” and emphasized his love for family, teammates, and friends.

“We send our deepest condolences to the Jones family and all who loved Arthur,” DeCosta added.

The football world is remembering Jones not only for his accomplishments on the field but also for his character and the positive impact he had on those around him.
