**New Delhi, October 5, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded US President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker peace in Gaza, following Hamas’s acceptance of key components of Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan. The move came hours after Trump issued an ultimatum to the Palestinian group, demanding acceptance by Sunday evening US time.
“We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress,” PM Modi stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Saturday. “Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.”
This endorsement follows PM Modi’s earlier support for Trump’s Gaza peace plan, which he described as “a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security, and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people.”
The peace plan, reportedly accepted in part by Hamas, includes provisions for ending the conflict, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the release of hostages and Palestinian captives, aid and recovery efforts, and guarantees against Palestinian expulsion from the territory.
President Trump has since called on Israel to immediately halt its bombing campaign in Gaza to facilitate the safe release of hostages. He expressed optimism that Hamas is prepared for a lasting peace and thanked several countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, for their assistance in brokering the agreement.
Trump also reshared Modi’s earlier post on Truth Social.
