**Hyderabad Gets New Bridge, Promises Relief from Traffic Snarls**

**HYDERABAD, October 4, 2025** – After seven years of planning and construction, a new Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Falaknuma was officially opened to the public today by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The project, spearheaded by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), is aimed at easing the chronic traffic congestion plaguing the area around the Secunderabad-Falaknuma railway line.

The ₹52.03 crore infrastructure investment includes civil works by the GHMC, contributions from the South Central Railway, utility shifting by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board and Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, as well as land acquisition costs.

The 360-meter-long bridge runs parallel to an existing ROB and provides four lanes of carriageway when combined with the reconstructed section of the original bridge. The project also features a 36-meter box culvert, a 12-meter-wide light vehicle underpass, and associated at-grade and service roads.

GHMC officials anticipate a dramatic improvement in traffic flow, creating a “conflict-free movement from Barkas Junction to Falaknuma bus depot.” The bridge is expected to drastically reduce travel times and decongest the roads leading towards the historic Charminar, benefiting both local residents and businesses.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Members of Parliament Anil Kumar Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi, MLCs Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi and Mirza Rahmat Baig, MLAs Mohammed Mubeen and Mir Zulfiqar Ali, and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan.

The project represents a significant step towards modernizing Hyderabad’s infrastructure and tackling the challenges of urban traffic. It remains to be seen if the new bridge will fully resolve the traffic issues in the area, but its opening is being welcomed as a positive development.
