**Hip-Hop Mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced to Over Four Years in Federal Prison**
**MANHATTAN, NY -** Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, was sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison on Friday for violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. The sentencing, handed down by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian in Manhattan, caps a harrowing trial that exposed years of Combs’ exploitative behavior.
Combs was convicted of transporting women and male sex workers across state lines for drug-fueled sexual encounters. He was also fined $500,000. With credit for time served, he is expected to be released in approximately three years.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Subramanian addressed Combs directly, stating, “Why did it happen so long? Because you had the power and the resources to keep it going, and because you weren’t caught.”
The trial featured testimony from multiple women, including his former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who described years of abuse and sexual coercion. Jurors were presented with video evidence of Combs physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway.
While Combs’ defense argued for immediate release, citing his remorse and newfound sobriety, Prosecutor Christy Slavik argued that a lenient sentence would send the wrong message. “It’s a case about a man who did horrible things to real people to satisfy his own sexual gratification,” Slavik said. “He didn’t need the money. His currency was control.”
In a statement to the court, Combs expressed remorse, calling his actions “disgusting, shameful” and apologizing to those he had harmed. However, the judge ultimately sided with the prosecution, delivering a sentence that reflects the severity of the crimes.
