**Man Barricaded in Vehicle on City Hall Steps, Downtown Los Angeles Evacuated**

**Los Angeles, CA – October 3, 2025** – The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently responding to an ongoing incident at City Hall, where a man has barricaded himself inside a vehicle parked on the building’s steps.

The incident began around 4:08 p.m. PDT when officers were dispatched to the scene at Broadway and South of First Street in downtown Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle occupied by a man who is refusing to exit. The man is reportedly in possession of what appears to be an oxygen tank and displaying two handwritten signs. One sign reads, “Don’t Want To Hurt No Body,” while the other states, “I NEED UR HELP D TRUMP U.S. VET.”

As a precautionary measure, authorities have initiated an evacuation of City Hall and surrounding areas. Streets around City Hall will remain blocked off for the duration of the active situation.

Mayor Karen Bass has been informed of the incident and released a statement via X, saying, “I’ve been briefed on the ongoing incident outside of City Hall, which is currently being evacuated out of an abundance of caution. I want to thank all first responders who are at the scene — my office will continue to monitor the situation.”
