Sat Oct 04 07:08:33 UTC 2025: ## Iran Executes Seven Accused of Terrorism and Ties to Israel Amid Rising Tensions

**Tehran, Iran** – Iran’s judiciary announced the execution of six individuals on Saturday, accused of carrying out armed attacks and bombings in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. State media reported that the men were found guilty of killing four security personnel, including police officers and members of the Basij paramilitary force, in 2018 and 2019. They were also implicated in acts of sabotage, including bomb-making and the bombing of a gas station.

The executions come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, following a recent 12-day conflict and accusations from Iran that many of those executed have ties to Israeli intelligence. Iran frequently links separatist and terrorist groups to Israel.

In a separate execution on the same day, Kurdish fighter Saman Mohammadi was hanged after being convicted of “Moharebeh,” or waging war against God. Mohammadi was reportedly involved in the 2009 killing of a religious leader and other violent crimes.

These executions follow the recent hanging of Bahman Choobiasl, who was accused of being a key spy for Israel. He was reportedly executed for meeting with officials from Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, and working on sensitive telecommunications projects.

The executions are part of a broader trend in Iran, which has seen an increase in death sentences following recent protests and rising tensions with Israel. Critics argue that the executions are politically motivated and target individuals accused of dissent.

According to human rights organizations, Iran is the world’s second most prolific executioner after China. Groups like Iran Human Rights and the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran estimate that over 1,000 people were executed in 2025, a number that could be even higher due to underreporting by the Iranian government.
