**Savannah, GA** – The 28th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival is set to take place from October 25th to November 1st, boasting a diverse selection of films, panels, and presentations. The festival has added highly anticipated titles to its lineup, including Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” Chloe Zhao’s “Hamnet,” and Yorgos Lanthimos’s “Bugonia.”
The festival will kick off with David Freyne’s “Eternity,” starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner. Teller will receive the Distinguished Performance Award, presented by Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Centerpiece Gala is “Song Sung Blue” starring Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman, and Rian Johnson’s “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will close the event.
This year’s festival will screen 167 films, including narrative features, documentaries, and shorts. There will also be a mix of world and U.S. premieres, including “Rains Over Babel,” “Rosemead,” “She Dances” and “Charliebird.” Special presentations will feature movies like “A Private Life,” “Belén,” and “Breathless”.
The festival also highlights the talent of below-the-line artisans, and a conversation with “Wicked: For Good” director Jon M. Chu. A “Docs to Watch” series, an animation showcase called “Pixels and Pencils,” and panels with directors, producers, casting directors, and other industry professionals will round out the event.
SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace emphasized the festival’s role in connecting students with industry leaders, bridging the gap between education and professional filmmaking.
