**Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat Demands Increased Reservation for Muslims, Threatens DMK Support**
**Madurai, Tamil Nadu – October 3, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat (TNTJ) has issued a strong statement demanding the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) increase reservation for the Muslim community in education and jobs to at least 5%. The organization warned that failure to meet this demand could jeopardize the DMK’s chances of securing Muslim votes in the upcoming Assembly election.
Speaking to the media, TNTJ General Secretary A. Mujibur Rahman cautioned the DMK against complacency, highlighting the AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP as a factor that could sway Muslim voters. While acknowledging the DMK’s previous provision of 3.5% reservation for Muslims and its support regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, Rahman emphasized that Muslim support is not guaranteed.
“The Muslims have already shown their gratitude towards the DMK in the last Assembly polls and Lok Sabha election,” Rahman stated. “If the DMK takes the Muslims for granted, then the community will have to take a call on supporting it in the Assembly election.”
The TNTJ has reportedly met with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin twice to advocate for the 5% reservation. Rahman also voiced dissatisfaction with a recent Supreme Court judgment on the Wakf Amendment Act, arguing it unfairly allows people of other faiths to be members of Muslim trusts, unlike trusts administered by Hindus and Christians.
Furthermore, the TNTJ condemned the recent booking of over 1,000 Muslims in connection with the “I love Mohammed” issue, arguing for the right of Muslims to express their affection for the Prophet in a similar manner to expressions of affection for celebrities and political leaders.
The TNTJ will hold a youth conference in Madurai on October 5th to further address these issues.
