Sun Sep 28 10:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Zheng Qinwen Aces Comeback at China Open, Advances to Third Round

**Beijing, China** – China’s Zheng Qinwen made a triumphant return to the WTA Tour after undergoing elbow surgery, defeating Emiliana Arango of Colombia in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at the China Open on Saturday. This victory marks her first win since June, a welcome return after being sidelined for over two months.

The world No. 9 admitted to not being at 100% following the surgery, estimating her fitness at “70-80%,” but expressed her desire to compete in front of her home crowd was a key factor in her decision to participate in the tournament.

“Coming here to the China Open really depends on the support of the fans because my team wasn’t really supporting me in playing this tournament,” Zheng revealed after her win.

Zheng’s impressive performance at home continues, boasting a strong win rate at WTA 1000 events in China. She holds a 9-3 career record, making her the most successful Chinese player in the format since 2009.

Looking ahead, Zheng faces a challenging match against No. 26 seed Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in the third round. While Zheng has won both of their previous encounters, she anticipates a tough battle. “She is a tough player. As far as I know she is really quick,” Zheng commented.

The young star is hoping to recover and deliver an even stronger performance, and further energized by her home-ground support.
