**Kanker, Chhattisgarh – September 28, 2025** – In a significant blow to Maoist insurgents, security forces eliminated three rebels in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Sunday. The gun battle occurred in a forested area near Chhindkhadak village, bordering Gariaband district, during an anti-Maoist operation.
According to Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela, the joint operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the Border Security Force (BSF), and state police units from Kanker and Gariaband.
The deceased Maoists were identified as Sarvan Madkam alias Vishwanath, secretary of the Sitanadi/Ravas area committee, Rajesh alias Rakesh Hemla, an area committee member of the Nagari area committee, and Basanti Kunkjam alias Hidme, a member of the protection team Mainpur-Nuapada. Authorities confirmed that the three carried a combined bounty of ₹14 lakh. An SLR, a .303 rifle, a 12-bore gun, and other Maoist-related materials were recovered from the site.
