**Andhra Pradesh to Establish Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition in Visakhapatnam**
**Visakhapatnam, India – September 28, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh state government has approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET) in Visakhapatnam, marking a major step forward in the state’s commitment to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean technology innovation. The project is spearheaded by the Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APEPDCL) with significant support from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
The CoEET will be housed within the state’s first Super Energy Conservation Building Code (Super ECBC) building, a ₹13.5 crore structure constructed by APEPDCL in Sagar Nagar, with a ₹5 crore grant from the BEE. The facility will transform into a hub for clean energy research, development, and implementation.
APEPDCL CMD I. Prudhvitej stated that the CoEET will capitalize on the state’s coastal location, significant renewable energy resources, and established infrastructure to:
* Conduct applied research and pilot clean energy projects.
* Develop a skilled workforce through training programs.
* Incubate startups and foster entrepreneurship in energy technologies.
* Offer data-driven policy support and regulatory insights.
* Facilitate collaboration between industry, academia, and government to address regional energy challenges.
The CoEET is expected to play a crucial role in accelerating Andhra Pradesh’s transition to a sustainable energy future.
