Edgewater, CA – The upcoming season of “Fire Country” promises grief, conflict, and the aftermath of tragedy, as revealed in the Season 4 trailer. The premiere, airing October 17th, will deal with the death of Vince Leone (Billy Burke), one of the Leones trapped in a burning building at the end of last season. The trailer shows Bode (Max Thieriot) being held back from re-entering the blaze by his best friend, Jake (Jordan Calloway), sparking intense anger and resentment.
“I will never forgive this,” Bode warns Jake in the trailer.
The death of Vince sends shockwaves through the Leone family and the town of Edgewater. Bode is seen delivering a eulogy for his father, vowing to protect his town and fire station. However, the loss of Vince raises questions about who will become the next battalion chief, with both Jake and Bode vying for the position. Tensions further escalate as Sharon (Diane Farr) suspends 42 from active duty. Also making waves, Gabriela exits and tells Bode she still loves him.
Co-creators Tony Phelan and Joan Rater explain that Vince’s death was a necessary plot point to reflect the realities of wildland firefighting and to propel the characters into new emotional journeys. “We felt like it was time for the show and the characters to have a loss,” Phelan said. Rater added that revealing Vince’s death in the trailer was a conscious decision to prepare fans for the impact it will have on the season.
The season will also delve into the grief experienced by Sharon and Bode, as well as explore the evolving dynamics between Bode, Jake, and Eve (Jules Latimer). Phelan teases that Bode, now out of prison, struggles with the loss of his father and must decide if he will reach out for help.
A crossover event with “Sheriff Country” is also planned, where the two worlds of the shows will collide, threatening the future of Edgewater. The premiere will air on Friday, October 17th at 8/7c on CBS.
