**North Texas Braces for Severe Storms Tuesday Evening Followed by Dramatic Temperature Drop**

DALLAS – North Texas residents should prepare for a dramatic shift in weather conditions starting Tuesday evening. After a final day of summer heat, a cold front is expected to sweep through the region, bringing the potential for severe thunderstorms followed by a welcome taste of fall.

Tuesday will be hot and humid, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-90s and a heat index exceeding 100 degrees for much of the Metroplex. The change will arrive late in the afternoon as a cold front pushes into DFW’s northern and northwestern counties.

The FOX 4 Weather team forecasts scattered thunderstorms developing as the front moves in. These storms could be strong to severe, with the primary threats being gusty winds and hail. Storm coverage is expected to increase in the early evening and overnight hours as the front slowly progresses south, reaching DFW after midnight.

Some storms, particularly north and east of DFW, could produce high winds in excess of 55-60 mph and hail up to the size of a quarter. While the tornado threat is currently low, it cannot be entirely ruled out.

Rain and storm chances will linger into Wednesday morning, with some heavy downpours possible before tapering off in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop significantly, with most of Wednesday spent in the 70s under increased cloud cover.

By Thursday, North Texas will finally experience fall-like conditions, with crisp mornings in the 50s and 60s and daytime highs in the low 80s. While some clouds may persist on Thursday, sunshine is expected to return in full force on Friday.

Friday is predicted to be the highlight of the week, with sunny skies, light winds, and beautiful September weather. This pleasant weather pattern will continue through the weekend, with cool mornings and warm afternoons in the mid to upper 80s. The forecast remains dry for both Saturday and Sunday.
