**North Georgia Braces for Much-Needed Rain, Weather Impact Alert Issued**

ATLANTA, Georgia – 11Alive has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Thursday, Sept. 25th, as North Georgia anticipates its most active weather pattern in several weeks. A cold front sweeping through the state is expected to trigger showers and thunderstorms, primarily in the afternoon and evening.

While the metro area and much of North Georgia are under a Level 1 risk for severe weather, forecasters emphasize that widespread severe storms are not anticipated. However, an isolated, stronger storm remains a possibility.

The rainfall is welcomed after an exceptionally dry month. Atlanta has recorded a mere 0.02 inches of rain, leaving the ground parched. While most areas can expect around an inch of rain, some localized areas in North Georgia could see up to two inches.

The anticipated rain does bring potential hazards. Heavy downpours could lead to standing water on roads, and the combination of rain and accumulated oil on the pavement will likely create slick driving conditions, especially during the initial stages of the showers.

“We’re urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly during the evening commute,” stated a 11Alive meteorologist. “Allow extra travel time, reduce your speed on wet roads, and stay weather-aware as these storms move through.”

11Alive encourages residents to download the 11Alive app for the latest updates, live radar, and streaming coverage of the developing weather situation.
